One more year at school we have joined the “Xocolatada Solidària” initiative: which will help research childhood cancer.
Every year, 1,200 new cases of cancer are diagnosed in children and adolescents in Spain and only 80% manage to overcome it. It is a completely different disease from adult cancer and, little or nothing, the advances made by the latter are of no use. Childhood cancer needs specific research to be able to cure those who do not yet have a cure, and to be able to get better treatments, with far fewer sequelae, for those who do have it.
For this important reason, from the school we join the 5th Solidarity Chocolate for Childhood Cancer and we will participate by organizing a solidarity chocolate at school:
When?
Next Tuesday, February 15th.
Boys and girls can enjoy a good cup of chocolate at breakfast.
Donation collection:
This year we will be collecting donations through the school’s tutors: from Thursday 10 February, students who wish can bring their donation and give it to the teachers.
La Xocolatada Solidària has a well-established history alongside Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona, a national and international reference center in paediatrics. Proof of this is that, with the funds raised in previous editions through actions such as the one that our center has decided to do this year, it has managed to promote lines of research on childhood cancer such as Sarcomas, the Diffuse Glioma of Trunk -DIPG-, pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia, precision diagnosis and personalized medicine for relapsed patients… In addition, it has supported care projects to help affected families and promoted the pioneering Pediatric Oncology Unit Integrative Europe.
Many grains of sand, manage to make great mountains.
Let’s go!
